FESTIVAL REGULATIONS

10th IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival

1. The 10th edition of IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival will be held from June 29th to July 7th, 2012.

2. Submitted films shall not exceed 45 minutes in duration and shall be completed after January 1st, 2010.

3. In The Palace ISFF accepts individual or institutional entries /production studios, distribution companies, film academies, national film centres, televisions, associations of artists, etc./

4. The entry fee for the 10th In The Palace ISFF applies per submitted film.

Entry fees:

  • 20 EUR / until February 10th, 2012
  • 25 EUR / after February 10th, 2012 *

    * Reelport submitters use 20% Special Discount after February 10th, 2012.

5. In The Palace ISFF will pay a screening fee (in the amount of 20 EUR) for each film selected for the festival competitive programmes.
The Festival will NOT pay any screening fees for works in non-competitive programmes. Screening fees can only be obtained personally by a film representive attending the festival.

6. The prize fund of the 10th In The Palace is 10,000 Euro in gold.
All awards and prizes will be handed personally to the film’s representative. Awards and prizes will NOT be delivered by mail.

7. The competitive programme of IN THE PALACE Festival includes:  

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

for films with Bulgarian Premiere at the 10th In The Palace ISFF, including the following categories:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Experimental & non-narrative productions, hybrid forms & formats, digital artwork

Films and audiovisual works that have already been presented in Bulgaria or are available for free online viewing on the web will NOT be eligible for the International Competition programme!

NATIONAL COMPETITION

for Bulgarian films, including the following categories:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Experimental & non-narrative productions, hybrid forms & formats, digital artwork

In The Palace ISFF accepts that films eligible for this competition should be produced entirely in Bulgaria or co-produced with Bulgarian majority participation.

8. Submission deadline is:

  • March 25th, 2012 for International Competition;
  • April 15th, 2012 for National Competition;

9. Submission materials required:

  • Filled out online Entry Form;
  • Preview copy of the submitted film(s) on DVD /PAL (to be sent by post) or in common digital video file format /PAL (to be sent for downloading via security web link); If the language version of the submitted film is different than English, the preview copies should be subtitled in English!
  • Dialogue list in English (lines with time code according to the PAL format version) - applicable also for English language versions!
  • A document certifying paid entry fee scanned by e-mail (not applicable for payments via PayPal);

Preview copies are not subject of return.

10. In The Palace ISFF appoints the Selection Committee as well as the competent International Jury evaluating the films presented at the Festival.
In The Palace ISFF reserves the right to include films which have collected insufficient selection points to enter a competition in festival thematic non-competitive special programmes.

11. The selected authors (both competitive and non-competitive programmes) will be announced until April 30th, 2012.
The authors should send to the festival as soon as possible a trailer of the selected film in high quality common digital video file format (suitable for cinema screenings);

12. Deadline for submission of screening copies of the selected films is May 31st, 2012. Eligible screening copies formats are: 35 mm, 16 mm, BETACAM SP (PAL) or HDCAM (PAL);
The Festival will not accept screening copies received after the announced deadline and reserves the right to screen the preview copies submitted for pre-selection.

13. In The Palace ISFF will return the screening copies of the selected films after the end of the festival.

14. In The Palace ISFF will cover the subsistence expenses (accommodation and food) of one representative only per competitive film, based on preliminary accreditation.

15. Accreditation applications must be submitted until June 1st, 2012.

16. The owners of the film copyright and proprietary rights hereby authorize the inclusion of their work in all festival and follow-up promotional programmes, as well as free publication and broadcasting of film stills, trailers and excerpts of the selected film (online or through any public media) for the purpose of presenting its participation in the Festival;

17. All submitted preview copies are automatically entered in the festival Video Library and made available for non-commercial professional viewing. The festival reserves the right to digitize all works selected for professional viewing purposes during the Festival.

18. The awards nominated films could be included in a DVD "In The Palace On Tour" which will be used for promotion of the festival and the authors.

19. The Festival's director has the right to settle individually all issues, which have not been described in the present Regulations.

20. By submitting the Entry Form to IN THE PALACE you accept all terms and conditions stipulated in the present Regulations.
